Amazon is investing millions in Deliveroo in a boost to the UK-based food delivery service as it takes on rivals such as Uber Eats and Just Eat in a competitive market.. Deliveroo said it would use the money for international expansion, The company announced Thursday a new program aimed at helping people start their own businesses delivering packages for Amazon. For a minimum investment of $10,000, people in the United States will be able to open and manage their own delivery service handling Amazon packages. The entrepreneur will be responsible for hiring delivery people, and Amazon would be the customer, paying the business to pick up packages from its 75 delivery centers around the country and delivering them to shoppers’ doorsteps.
